SEA SCOUT SHIP 940, for girls and boys ages 14-20, is the water-based adventure program of Scouting America. Our focus is small boat sailing, whitewater kayaking and rafting, motor boating, ice boat sailing and ice fishing, SUPs and all things water-based. We meet monthly, usually at our activity's location. and paddlecraft. We are adventure focused, youth planned and executed, with advancement optional for those interested.
Sea Scout units, called ships, are established all across the country on oceans, bays, rivers, and lakes. Ship 940 does not own a physical ship, but we do have an inventory of whitewater kayaks and gear, and access to the paddle craft at Camp Minsi Aquatics.
Young people ages 14 – 20 may be Sea Scouts. Many youth in the Maritime Club 940 (ages 10-14, link below) join the Sea Scout Ship when they turn 14 and continue their adventure! Sea Scouts can still be in their Scouts BSA troop at the same time!
MONTHLY ACTIVITIES
We meet about once a month for a meeting and/or activity. The location is dependent on the monthly activity.
